The Truth about Diet and Weight Loss

The Truth about Diet and Weight Loss

I want to talk tonight about weight loss. It’s a subject everyone is worried about. And the problem is that diets don’t work. Everybody has tried a diet. I haven’t met a person yet that’s hasn’t tried something, from kids to people in their eighties; everybody has tried some kind of diet and they just don’t work. In recent studies when they looked at a lot of their major diets (some good one’s, Atkins, The Zone), they put them all together statistically and found a ten pound weight loss on average. Now, these people lost a hundred pounds and gained it back of course. But, all that work, all that money, all those videos, for ten pounds of weight loss?

So the truth is, we have to find a life style that will allow you to stay at a weight that is healthy for you. That’s a much different way of thinking than all this crash dieting that goes on. What you have to learn is how to take care of yourself; you have to learn the appropriate foods; you have to make better choices. That’s the only way it’s going to work.

  14. SpartanLife1821 Says:

    also a calorie …
also a calorie deficit of 300 to 500 is perfect for wieght loss. Also for those people wondering can you build muscle taking it less calories. YES you can because the body will suppliment the difference from your body fat. Only in extreme athletes like bodybuidlers going for competition when thier already soo lean its hard to maximize muscle and maximize fat loss without sactificing muscle. But for the average person 300-500 calorie deficit is great for loosing fat AND gaining muscle. good luck

  15. SpartanLife1821 Says:

    another myth is if …
another myth is if you eat at night it turns into fat. Well thiers not much a a difference in metabolism when your sleeping, or at your office sitting down at a desk. Even excersice itself does not burn alot of calories, walking for an hour only burns a few hundred calories. So your metabolism does not slow down THAT much when you sleep. IT still comes down to calories in calories out like a bank manager with numbers. I eat a huge meal every night and i get leaner when i watch my calories.

  16. SpartanLife1821 Says:

    I have been a …
I have been a natural bodybuilder for 5 years, and bodybuilders have always been ahead of the general concensus for diet. Complex carbs, lean meats, vegies, fruits and healthy fats should be incorporated in every meal. But even if you dont eat healthy, if you take in less calories then you burn you will loose fat period. It comes down to calories in calories out. eating every few hours should be a staple. And resistance training is key, the more muscle you have the greater calories you can burn.

    One qualm, he says …
One qualm, he says that three meals a day is a good idea. And it is in contrast to 2 meals or 1 meal, but the more frequently someone eats, the faster the metabolism will become. When the body knows that it has a constant supply of food and always will, it won’t feel the need to store fat.

6 smaller meals a day and exercise in between, even if it’s as little as 10 minutes will help keep the weight off. When you’re constantly eating and constantly exercising, your body is burning the calories.

@webkinz333 depends on your height first, not all about pounds. someone 6 ft at 110 would be skin and bones, someone 4 ft would look about average. just get excercise and eat healthy food. You are at an age where the body will go through changes anyways. Keep yourself healthy, and don’t worry about weight..
