Use as many of the following fat burning foods to your diet in your efforts to lose weight as they will help melt away stubborn fat.

Apples

There’s truth in the saying ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’.  They are also a rich source of soluble fiber which prevents hunger pangs. Apples have the added health benefits of lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure. An average sized apple contains about 81 calories, no cholesterol, sodium or saturated fat.

Asparagus

Cabbage

Rich in calcium and vitamin C and a great anti-oxidant. It’s also low in carbs and calories so try different varieties.

Cod

A popular fish which is low in calories and low in fat.

Celery

This is possibly one of the best foods to eat when on a weight loss diet. Containing only about 12 calories, it is filling and you can eat as much as you want.

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits and berries contain vitamin C which burns fat by liquefying it. Therefore it can be easily flushed from the body provided you drink plenty of water. Most of them also provide plenty of fiber which helps you feel fuller for longer.

Eggs

High in protein and an excellent source of vitamin B12 necessary for helping to burn fat.

Garlic

Garlic oil can be used as well and both are good for weight loss as they help to reduce fatty deposits.

Grapes

Not the ones that have been fermented in a bottle! Fresh grapes are very good fat burners and provide fiber.

Green Tea

Onions

Peppers

A great group of foods to raise your metabolism. Hot, spicy chilli peppers and other spicy foods make you sweat by raising your body temperature this burning fat quicker. Rich in Vitamins A and C, fat-free, high in fiber and low in sodium and calories.

Potatoes

Contrary to popular belief potatoes are not fattening. They are a great source of potassium and fiber, lower cholesterol and protect against heart disease and strokes. What makes them fattening is the butter, milk and cream that is often added to them. Try eating a baked potato with a healthy topping or filling for a delicious, nutritious meal.

Soybeans

Soybeans protect your cells from accumulating too much fat and help in the breakdown of fatty deposits as they contain the chemical lecithin.

Spices

These help burn more calories as they speed up the metabolism.

Spinach

Rich in vitamins C and E and iron it speeds up the metabolism and helps to burn away fat. Remember Popeye?

Turnip

They can be used in a variety of meals, are low in calories and contain vitamin C and burns fat by liquefying it.

Tuna

Low in fat compared to some other fish and very versatile. If using the tinned variety choose ones that are packed in spring water rather than oil.

These aren’t the only fat burning foods you can eat but if you start with some of these ones you will have made a great start to lose weight.

How do I lose weight-the healthy and life long way-?
I have struggled with losing weight since I was young, I want to lose weight steadily, and (I know I know, should be the priority, but) quickly, but be healthy and make this a life long change.

I don’t want to diet, I’m not cutting out carbs or anything, and the most working out I can do a day, with school and all, is round bout 30 mins to an hour. I need help.

Any tips? Workout ideas? I tend to get bored easily? Whats most effective and burns the most calories? Does milk really help? And what are healthy foods to snack on? I’m a bad muncher!! Thanks!!!

They key is somthing that you enjoy doing. The ones that give drastic results right away are also the ones that dont last over the long haul.

As far as burning fat that means doing cardio. This is as simple as speed walking. Seriously, just speed walking can do the trick. it gets your heart rate up and you can keep it there longer than if you were running or jogging. It is also easier on your joints. It also helps to tone and tighten muscles while burning off those calories. It is free, you can do it anywhere, anytime of day, infact doing it in the morning or afternoon helps to kick start your motabolism. Thus giving you more energy that will last longer through the day.

Like you said healthy eating is the key and not just a diet. Lots of fruits and veggies for vitamins, carbs are good in the morning as they are fuel for your body and mind.

As far as the snacking goes figure out specifically what you crave. Is it somthing crunchy or a bit sweet? With that in mind go to the store and look in the health food isles and see if you can find that crunchy or sweet healthy thing that is actually good for you. Dont forget it is okay to eat somthing bad in moderation. This sounds silly but i like crunchy with a little sweet so i eat one all bran bar. Hey it is good for me, what is wrong with fibre.

Good luck to you and good health to you and yours!

I have had the same problem. I have lost thirty-five pounds and have kept it off for about a year. I do have more to lose though. Here is what I do. I avoid going out to eat. I cook at home from scratch as often as possible to avoid processed food. I consult low fat cookbooks. The weight watchers cookbook is a good one as is Shape Magazine’s. When I do snack, it is fruit, nuts, 100-calorie popcorn, or yogurt. I have a sweet tooth and I indulge it with Klondike’s Slim-A-Bear 100 calorie ice cream bars, Skinny Cow’s ice cream sandwiches, or Hershey’s 60-calorie chocolate sticks. Dont deprive yourself. Enjoy things in moderation. DO thirty minutes of cardio at least three times a week. You can walk around the neighborhood, jog, jump rope, whatever. Then invest in some workout DVDS to do about three times a week. Get different ones. I have Core Secrets, Belly Dancing, Striptease, yoga, you name and I have it. I get bored easily too. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

You don’t have to diet but to lose weight you will have to make a few sacrafices and lifestyle changes.

First, figure out how many calories per day you consume. Next, figure out your basal metabolic rate. This is how many calories you need per day to maintaine your weight

Lower your caloric intake by a few hundred calories. It doesn’t have to be a lot. For example, if you require 2000 calories a day then you’d drop down to 1800 to 1700 calories per day.

Your meals should be balanced and try not to exceed 9 grams of fat per meal. It serving sizes that are appropriate. You may be hungry at first if you had been overeating before, but this will go away eventually, as your stomach shrinks.

Highly limit high fat foods and stick to the basics. For example, dinner might be baked chicken breast, rice with seasoning, and green vegetables.

Instead of ground beef, try lean ground turkey. Instead of hot dogs, try soy dogs….a lot of those soy products actually taste pretty good now.

You’ll find that eat simple foods fills you up a lot more than that processed boxed and frozen stuff anyway.

Walking 30 minutes to an hour a day is fine. You don’t even have to do it every day. Six days a week is ok.

Also, get yourself a book on healthy eating and nutrition to give yourself an idea of what a good diet is. I’m a fan of clean eating but a lot of people can’t do that.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that’s how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)
