Diets and weight loss are a frequent and consistent hype. These days there is much talk about Protein diets. The Atkins diet created a protein frenzy with people striving for the quick weight loss result achieved by a protein diet. Some people are succesful but not for life. Some people are not successful and move on to the next diet.

 With so many diets turning up, and at such a constant pace, it can be difficult to know if they are viable, healthy or harmful.  Here are some tips for you to consider with regards to the famous protein diet and other areas you can turn to for diets and weight loss that encompass nutritional value and a healthy lifestyle. 

 Protein is very effective on metabolism. In avoiding carbohydrates your body wont have an immediate energy source and will have to use stored fat, which is where the weight loss comes from. So, yes, it is possible to lose weight on a protein diet – initially.

 Protein diets are usually misinterpreted. If done incorrectly, they can starve the body of carbohydrates, making it look for other energy sources such as fat stores and sometimes muscle. This process of burning fat and protein for energy creates what is called Ketones. If you have a lot of ketones in your body, your blood can become very acidic, which means it has to use calcium to buffer the acidity. We certainly dont want to do anything that causes us to lose precious calcium!

Other side effects I have heard people complain of is hair loss, skin problems, and digestive problems, mainly due to lack of fibre in the diet. I mean, why do a diet to lose the weight but then end up encompassing other issues with your health?

 Any diet that does not enable you to maintain for life is unrealistic. Restrictive diets, whether protein, low fat, or calorie counting, always has side effects. Dont look for quick fixes, they dont last, are usually very costly, and above all, usually have some sort of side effect. Dieting extremes are not the solution.

Instead, look for health diets and weight loss regimes suitable for your daily lifestyle. Be active and do regular exercise. There are diet plans that help you do this and these are the ones you should be looking at.  If you do this, you will be successful in managing your weight and will not have to move on to other diets.

Lose Weight Fast – Don’t Its Unhealthy!

Losing more than a pound or two a week is not healthy. Fast weight loss is bad for two main reasons.

Lose weight fast and you will lose muscle

Firstly, if you lose weight quickly you lose muscle along with fat. This is bad when it comes to weight loss.

Muscle burns more calories than fat. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn and this applies to when you’re not doing anything strenuous. Losing muscle is therefore not a good idea.

Lose weight fast and you slow your metabolism

Secondly, if you lose weight too quickly your body will slow down your metabolism.

When we skip meals or crash diet, our body is programmed to think it’s starving and slows down our metabolism to conserve energy.

What is conserved is our fat stores; our weight loss comes from water and muscle.

For example, studies show that when dieting, the weight we lose is approximately 75 percent fat and 25 percent muscle.

In addition, a relatively high percentage of this weight loss is likely to be water.

Keep in mind, water accounts for about 70 percent of the total body weight of an average person, with muscle tissue containing approximately 75 percent water and body fat containing about 50 percent water.

Losing weight quickly is therefore very difficult as we are simply losing water in the sort term.

The dangers of crash dieting

Crash dieting refers is a method in which we lose weight simply by restricting the number of calories consumed.

This method of losing weight fast is considered unhealthy, and it is rare that people who do it keep weight off.

They cannot adjust to these new unhealthy eating habits and then put the weight straight back on.

Your goal should be long term weight loss

Consider this, if you only lost a pound a week that would be 52 pounds a year and that is a lot of weight.

If you lose weight slowly you will remain healthy and also stand a good chance of keeping it off.

The maximum amount of body fat a healthy person can lose is about 1 or 2 pounds per week.

The human body is simply not designed to lose weight quickly and this is a healthy amount of weight loss to aim for.

Reasons why losing weight fast is difficult and unhealthy

Our bodies are programmed to help us survive in times of starvation.

Our basic body reactions have been set since man first walked the earth and in those days food was not just a phone call, or short walk away.

In times gone by, famine was the biggest threat to mans survival and your body is programmed to protect you.

How to Increase your Fat and Sugar Burning to Aid Weight Loss

In order to carry through a successful weight reduction process, your over-weight must be attacked from several angles at the same time. Among other measures, you also have to increase your burning of fat and sugar. This burning is also of two kinds. The body are steadily burning fat and sugar and thereby producing heat, and it burns these nutrients to get energy for the daily activities you perform. The aim in a slimming process is to increase both these burning processes. In the terminology often used about slimming, this is often called “increasing your energy levels”.

A. THE FAT AND SUGAR BURNING PROCESS

The burning of fat and sugar is composed of many chemical steps. Fat is first broken apart yielding free fatty acids. The fatty acids are then broken further down to pieces called acetyl. The sugar is also broken down to acetyl in a process called glycolysis, and the energy thus released is used to produce an energy-rich compound called ATP. The acetyl formed from the braking down of fat and sugar is then further combined with oxygen yielding carbon dioxide and water, and even more ATP is produced. The ATP produced is then used to release heat and to give energy for the bodily work.

B. GET ALL THE NUTRIENTS YOU REQUIRE

The process of braking down and burning fat and sugar uses vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids as working tools. Therefore your diet has to contain all these nutrients in the needed amount. Including vegetables or fruit in a natural form in every meal will help you get these nutrients.

Even though your generally shall reduce your fat consume, some types of food containing essential fatty acids should be a part of your daily diet, for example nuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, olives, olive oil and fat fish.

Extra supplements of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and lecithin can also be of help.

C. PHYSICAL EXERCISE

You should do some physical exercise at least every second day. Condition training like running, swimming, cycling or ball play consumes energy and thereby helps burn fat and sugar. The burning process even continues some hours after the training session.

These compounds also increase the metabolic activities that produce heat by consume of fat and sugar. These compounds can also reduce the appetite. All these effects can together help to reduce an excessive weight.

However, these compounds also may give many unpleasant or dangerous effects, like addiction, insomnia, agitation, manic reactions, hypertension, stroke, heart valve damage and heart rhythm disturbances. Therefore amphetamine itself and many related compounds are by now banned in most societies as a means to reduce weight. Amphetamine was early banned and classified as an illegal narcotic. By now also these compounds has been banned after having been on the market for some time: aminorex, fenfluramine, phenylpropanolamine and ephedrine.

Substances of this group available on the market today as weight reduction aids are: Phentermine, diethylpropion, phenidmetrazine, benzphetamine, sibutramine, rimonabant, oxyntomodulin and fluoxetine hydrochloride (Prozac).

E. USE OF CAFFEINE AND SIMILAR COMPOUNDS

Caffeine and similar compounds also increase the mental alertness, the feeling of energy and the impulses to external action, and thereby they also increase the burning of fat and sugar. They also increase the fat and sugar burning by accelerating the basic heat production metabolism.

A simple way of taking caffeine or the related compound teofylline is drinking a few cups of coffee or tea each day. A cup of coffee in the morning can and another cup in the afternoon can often give you the impulse you need to do an effective daily exercise session.

The tropical plants Yerba Mate and Guarana contain caffeine variants with a much greater effect on the fat and sugar burning than ordinary caffeine. On the market you can find sport drinks and slimming aids containing extracts of these plants.

F. SUPPLEMENTS STIMULATING THE THYROID GLAND

How can I make myself sick to a REALLY good and quick weight loss diet?

I dont know a good diet,
and I’ve tried, but I cant commit myself to it.
I need help, but yeah. I dont know what to do.
I want to loose wight badly, and fast.
Im not able to buy anything like that berry stuff.

There are a few things you can do to lose weight fast.
1.) Diet. Not THAT kind of diet, but one you can actually live with. If you want chocolate, eat it, but not much. If you are hungry but feel like you can’t handle the calories, eat something filling but very low in calories. Spinach is a great food for this.

2.) Exercise will help tremendously. Do what you can, but I recommend at least 30 minutes a day. It doesn’t have to be all together, either.

3.) Supplements can take a huge load off your shoulders. The right pill can boost your metabolism and cut appetite, making it much easier to stick to that diet. A few bucks now could make the whole difference.
